The Essence of Hajj
Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam, an obligatory pilgrimage required once in a lifetime for every adult Muslim who possesses the physical capability and financial means. It is a profound, transformative journey of complete surrender, bringing together millions of believers in absolute equality before their Creator.
Hajj al-Tamattu
Performing Umrah during the Hajj months, then exiting Ihram, and entering a new Ihram for Hajj on the 8th of Dhul Hijjah. Most common option.
Hajj al-Ifrad
Entering Ihram exclusively for the performance of Hajj rituals alone, without combining it with Umrah rites.
Hajj al-Qiran
Entering a single Ihram status for both Umrah and Hajj simultaneously, remaining in Ihram straight through until the end.
Chronological Progression of Rites
Entering Ihram & Mina
Begin the sacred journey by putting on Ihram and declaring intention. Proceed to the tent city of Mina, spending the day and night in prayer and reflection.
The Standing at Arafat
The pinnacle of Hajj. Pilgrims move to the plains of Arafat at dawn. This day is entirely dedicated to intense Du’a, repentance, and seeking Allah’s boundless mercy until sunset.
Muzdalifah Night Stay
After sunset, depart Arafat quietly for Muzdalifah. Perform Maghrib and Isha together, rest under the open sky, and collect small pebbles for the upcoming stoning ritual.
Day of Sacrifice (Yawm al-Nahr)
Return to Mina for the major Jamarat stoning (Jamarah al-Aqabah). Following this, the animal sacrifice (Qurbani) is performed, men shave/trim hair, and pilgrims release themselves from major Ihram restrictions.
Tashreeq Days & Farewell
Stay in Mina to stone all three pillars daily. Before final departure from Makkah, perform the Farewell Tawaf (Tawaf al-Wadaa) around the Holy Kaaba to close the spiritual rites.
